On Saturday night Juan Manuel Lopez (29-0, 26 KOs) succefully defended his WBO featherweight title by knocking out Bernabe Concepcion (28-4-1, 15 KOs) in the second round in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Just before the telecast by SHOWTIME it was reported that Concepcion had never been down in his twenty eight fights as a professional. That streak would come to an end within a minute of the first round as Lopez introduced Concepcion to the canvas twice in that round.

Making it even more interesting Concepcion pulled himself off the canvas to land a right hand, sending "Juan Ma" down for the count to end the first.

Sometimes you get a little bit overconfident," said Lopez. "That's what happened there. I have to be cautious never to be over confident."

Lopez, unfazed by the knockdown came out and continued to bring the heat, dropping Concepcion two more times before referee Luis Pabon would step in and stop the contest at 2:37.

With the win Lopez moves on to face Mexican star Rafael Marquez on Sept. 18 in Las Vegas.

In the co-feature, WBA interim super flyweight champion Nonito Donaire (24-1, 16 KOs) stopped Hernan Marquez (27-2, 20 KOs) in the eighth round.

Donaire, normally an orthodox fighter, chose to fight from the southpaw stance in the early rounds with minimal success. Marquez was able to find and hit Donair until he switched back to righty in round five and dropped Marquez. From there Marquez seemed to switch to defensive mode and it was just a matter of time. In the eighth Donaire landed a vicious left uppercut that dropped Marquez for the win. Time was 2:59.

"I knew I could figure him out right away from the right-handed stance. But I was confident and everybody on my team believed in me. I may have taken a little bit of a beating for it, but I feel that I needed that." Said Donair.

Donair says he will continue to work on his left handed stance.

Hopefully we can now get the fight we have all been waiting for... Darchinyan vs Donair 2!
